PETERSEN MEDIA: Though he had a couple of tough nights in 360ci competition over the weekend, Blake Carrick had a good run with the King of the West Series on Saturday night in Placerville, CA as he finished 11th.

“Friday and Saturday were tough nights in the 360, but it felt nice to get some laps in the 410, and get going forward in the main,” Blake Carrick said.

Checking in at Silver Dollar Speedway on Friday night, Carrick’s night got off to a great start as he timed the CVC/Cemex/Interstate Oil backed No. 38B machine third quickest in time trials.

Based on his time trial effort, Carrick would lock into the Dash where his sixth place finish put him 10th on the starting grid for the 30-lap feature event. Having front end issues early in the night, Carrick tried all he could to make it work but the handling on his machine would simply be too tough and he would retire from the race just past the halfway point.

Saturday night, Carrick and his team made the trip to Placerville Speedway to battle with both the Sprint Car Challenge Tour, and the King of the West Series.

In SCCT action, Carrick would not get timed in well and it would result in him starting at the tail end of his heat race. Finishing eighth in his heat, Carrick would move into the ‘B’ Main where we would battle for one of four transfer positions into the feature.

On the slick racing surface, Carrick would get rolling towards the end of the race and would take over the final transfer position. Coming to the checkered, contact front another car would ensue and it would result in Carrick missing the show, and ending his night.

In KWS action, Carrick would take some time to re acclimate to the 410ci engine, as he timed in 22nd fastest before finishing seventh in his heat race.

B-Main action in this division would go a little more smoothly for the Lincoln, CA driver as he would advance from fourth to second and make his way into the 30-lap feature event.

On the slick racing surface, Carrick would roll off the starting grid from the 22nd position and run a very patient race as he slowly worked his way through the field.

Methodically working around the Placerville Speedway surface, Carrick would flirt with a spot in the Top-10 in the final laps, but would end up with an 11th place finish.

“Busy couple of nights, and a little bummed we had a couple of tough finishes,’ Carrick said. “Had some fun in the KWS race, and thanks to everyone who makes it possible.”

Blake Carrick would like to thank CVC, Cemex, Interstate Oil, Conti, Harris and Sloan, Emerald, Timberworks Construction, and Arai for their continued support
