PETERSEN MEDIA: Running close to home on Saturday night, Blake Carrick’s star was shining at Marysville Raceway as the Lincoln, CA product picked up a fourth place finish at the annual Spooktacular.

“I am really happy with the Top-5, but kind of mad at myself for a couple mistakes that knocked us off the podium,” Blake Carrick said. “Good night for us for sure, big thanks to the guys for giving me a good car.”

Checking in to Marysville Raceway on Saturday night for a relative ‘Home Game’, Blake Carrick got the night started off by timing the CVC/Cemex/Interstate Oil backed No. 38B machine in 13thquickest in qualifying time trials.

Though not the time he was hoping for, it was good enough to put Carrick on the front row of his heat race and in a good spot to make the redraw. Taking advantage of his starting position, Carrick would take care of the task at hand as he picked up the win and went on to pull the one pill in the re-draw.

Leading the field to green by way of his draw, Carrick would get the initial jump over Shane Hopkins, but a wheel stand would see Hopkins overtake him and put him in the runner up position.

A slew of stoppages saw Carrick continue to hang around in second as he chased after Hopkins for the top spot, but just couldn’t quite get to him. As the laps clicked off, Carrick would admittedly make a couple of mistakes that allowed Andy Forsberg and Cole Macedo to get by him as he found himself back in fourth.

Keeping the Carrick Racing machine in the Top-5, Carrick would fend Sean Becker off and take the checkered flag with a fourth place finish.

“Fun night to race close to home and get a Top-5,” Carrick said. “Looking forward to our next race.”

Blake Carrick would like to thank CVC, Cemex, Interstate Oil, Conti, Harris and Sloan, Emerald, Timberworks Construction, and Arai for their continued support

ON TAP: Blake was unsure of what exactly his plan would be for Stockton Dirt Track this weekend.
