PETERSEN MEDIA: Continuing to put together strong performances aboard the Carrick Motorsports No. 38B machine, Blake Carrick charged form 10th on Friday night and finished fifth at the Silver Cup.
“It was a really good night,” Blake Carrick said. “Aside from a mistake in my heat race, I was really happy with how things went all night long.”
With weather in the air, and mandates on the horizon, Blake Carrick and the Carrick Motorsports team made their way to Silver Dollar Speedway on Friday night to take part in the annual Silver Cup.
With 33 cars packed into the pit area, Carrick would get his night off to a quick start as he timed the CVC/Cemex/Interstate Oil backed entry in second fastest in qualifications.
Lining up fourth in the night’s second heat race, Carrick would falter during the eight-lap affair as he slipped back to sixth and missed the direct transfer to the feature event.
Moving into the ‘B’, Carrick would grid the field from the outside of the front row. Racing into the lead, Carrick would not be denied as he picked up the win and made his way into the 40-lap feature event.
Taking the green flag from the 10th starting position, the Lincoln, CA wheelman would work his way forward on a track that had a ton of speed and made passing a little challenging.
Looking very sporty aboard the Conti, Harris, and Sloan/Emerald/Timberworks Construction entry, Carrick would power his way into the Top-5 as he took the checkered flag with a fifth-place finish.
“It was good to win the ‘B’ and come from 10th in the A to get a Top-5,” Carrick said. “Thanks to all the people who make this possible.”
