PETERSEN MEDIA: Heading to Ocean Speedway on Friday night at Keller Auto Speedway on Saturday night, Blake Carrick had another very strong weekend that saw him record second and fifth place finishes.
“It is pretty cool to be fast and in the mix no matter where we race at this year,” Blake Carrick said. “We had another really good weekend, and I have to thank Clark and the guys for continuing to put a great car underneath me.”
Friday night Carrick would get his weekend kicked off at Ocean Speedway where he timed the CVC/Cemex/Interstate Oil backed No. 38B machine in fourth fastest in qualifying time trials.
Lining up in the second row of his heat race, Carrick would need to pick up the win to qualify for the Dash. On a track that was tough to pass on in heat race action, Carrick would finish fourth and find himself in the seventh starting position for the 30-lap feature event.
When the race came to life, Carrick would search around the Ocean Speedway and actually lose a few positions as he would fall back as far as 10th in the early stages of the feature.
Able to get settled in just before the race’s halfway point, Carrick would start trending forward as he would get into eight by the race’s 15th lap. Continuing to head the right direction, Carrick would move into the fifth position with just nine laps left in the race and capped his night off with his 12th Top-5 of the season.
Saturday night the scene shifted to Keller Auto Speedway in Hanford, CA. Running a draw show with each driver running two heat races, Carrick would pick up a win and an eighth place finish his two attempts.
Finding himself 11th on the starting grid for the Kings of Thunder feature event, the Lincoln, CA driver have his elbows up as he went to work on the slicked off surface.
Carving his way through the field, Carrick would find himself in fifth when the cross flags were displayed to the field. Continuing to charge his way forward, Carrick raced into the second spot on the 25th lap and would go on to finish there and cap off a hard charge effort.
“We were really good in the feature on Saturday and really came to life,” Carrick added. “Again, thanks to everyone on this team for all they do.”
Blake Carrick would like to thank CVC, Cemex, Interstate Oil, Conti, Harris and Sloan, Emerald, Timberworks Construction, Kaeding Performance, and Arai for their continued support
