Blake Carrick Records Trio of Top-5 Finishes

PETERSEN MEDIA: Blake Carrick continued his strong 2020 campaign as he picked up a trio of Top-5 finishes during a busy stretch of action in Northern California.

“Big thanks to my guys for always working hard and continuing to give me a really good car each and every night,” Blake Carrick said. “It was good to have a stretch of good finishes, and hopefully we can keep them up and get another win soon.”

Wednesday night, Carrick kicked his week of racing off at Marysville Raceway in Marysville, CA. Timing the CVC/Cemex/Interstate Oil backed No. 38B machine in fourth fastest in qualifying time trials.

Lining up third in is heat, Carrick would pick up a position and finish second which proved to be good enough to earn himself a berth in the nightly redraw. Pulling the six, the Lincoln, CA driver would grid the field from third row for the 25-lap affair.

Putting together a nice run in the feature, Carrick would keep his machine inside the Top-5 as he chased after, and battled, the likes of Andy Forsberg and Shane Hopkins. In a torrid battle, Carrick would cap his night with a nice fourth place finish to start the busy week.

Taking part in the two-day Nor*Cal Posse Shootout in Placerville, CA, Friday night saw Carrick kick the weekend off by timing in fourth fastest in this time trial group as the SCCT format was in use.

Racing his way to the important heat race win, Carrick moved into the Dash where he would find himself on the front row. Getting called for a false start, Carrick would drop back to the second row where he then admittedly drove a little too hard and cost himself a few rows in the feature.

Slipping back to a seventh-place finish, Carrick would take the green flag from the fourth row of the 30-lap feature event.

On a fantastic surface that saw slick patches mixed with some moisture, Carrick was patient as he worked his way forward and back into the Top-5. When the Friday night opener came to a close, Carrick capped his night with a fourth-place finish.

Saturday night saw Carrick time his machine in third quickest in his time trial group which put him on the front row of his heat race. Picking up the win, Carrick was able to again move into the Dash where he would pull the four pill.

Able to pick up two positions, Carrick’s second place finish put him on the front row of the 40-lap feature event.

On the very slick surface, Carrick would get the early jump as he paced the star-studded field early. Leading the way for nearly the first half of the feature, Shane Golobic would soon track him down and drop the youngster back to second.

Slipping back to third on a restart, Carrick would get his mount back up on the Placerville Speedway cushion and he reclaimed the second position and began to reel in Golobic as the leaders ran through traffic until an untimely yellow halted the action as the checkered flag was about to fly.

The final restart would see Carrick lose the second position to Colby Copeland as he capped a very strong week with a third place finish.

“Another really good week for us, and I am excited to get back to Placerville Speedway on the 4th.”

Blake Carrick would like to thank CVC, Cemex, Interstate Oil, Conti, Harris and Sloan, Emerald, Timberworks Construction, Kaeding Performance, and Arai for their continued support
