Blake Carrick Runs Through Silver Dollar Speedway Alphabet

PETERSEN MEDIA: Friday night at Silver Dollar Speedway, Blake Carrick rebounded from a heat race tumble in a big way as he won the ‘C’, the ‘B’, and ran third in the feature event.

“Friday night was pretty crazy,” Blake Carrick said. “I didn’t get timed in well, flipped in the heat, but the guys gave me a super strong car and we passed a lot of cars.”

With 43 cars checked into the pit area on Friday night, Carrick would get off to an uncharacteristically slow start in time trials as he ended up eighth in his group.

Lining up in the fourth row of his heat race, the slick and rough surface would bite Carrick as he would catch a rut and get his CVC/Cemex/Interstate Oil backed entry upside down.

Unable to make repairs to rejoin the field, Carrick and his team would go to work and get the Lincoln, CA driver ready for the ‘C’. Racing his way to a win in the ‘C’, Carrick would tag the back of the ‘B’ where he would look to make a big run and keep his night alive.

With a little luck on his side by way of an opening lap wreck, Carrick would still make some big moves the old-fashioned way as he charged from 13th to win the semi as well.

Lining up 20th in the 25-lap feature event, Carrick continued his assault on the field. Despite the track taking rubber, Carrick was able to make more moves as he capped off his memorable nigh with a third-place finish in the feature, as he passed a total of 31 cars on the night.

Saturday night the scene shifted to Placerville Speedway where Carrick would look to ride his momentum from Friday night’s success. 29 sprint cars checked in on this night as Carrick timed in seventh fastest in time trials.

Picking up a third place finish in his heat race, Carrick would avoid the semi on this night, and moved directly into the feature event and the nightly redraw.

Pulling the four, Carrick would take the green flag from the outside of the second row for the 25-lap feature event on a very slick Placerville Speedway surface.

When the feature event went green, Carrick would slip back to the sixth position where he would run during a fast a furious opening 19-lap green flag run.

Finding himself battling with older brother, Tanner, on the restart, Carrick would find himself in the seventh position. Continuing to race in the Top-10 in the closing laps, Carrick would slip to eighth on the white flag lap but would get back up to finish seventh when the checkered flag flew.

“Saturday night we just couldn’t seem to get going, but we spent a lot of time in traffic so that made things a little challenging,” Carrick added. “Busy weekend for the guys, and we have another busy one on tap, so I do have to thank them for their continued hard work.”

Blake Carrick would like to thank CVC, Cemex, Interstate Oil, Conti, Harris and Sloan, Emerald, Timberworks Construction, Kaeding Performance, and Arai for their continued support

ON TAP: Blake Carrick will be in action at Keller Auto Speedway in Hanford, CA on Friday night and Thunderbowl Raceway in Tulare, CA on Saturday.
