Blake Carrick Works His Way Through Field at Stockton and Marysville

PETERSEN MEDIA: Though it was a weekend he would soon like to forget; Blake Carrick was able to over some adversity on Friday and Saturday night and earn fourth and eighth place finishes after starting back in the 18th spot both nights.

“It was a pretty tough weekend,” Blake Carrick said. “We had early issues on Friday and Saturday night that put us in deep holes for the rest of the night, and then on Sunday I got upside down twice.”

Carrick kicked his busy weekend off on Friday night at Marysville Raceway, where a throttle issue would relegate him to 28th overall on the speed charts in time trials.

A very racy surface during heat race action would see Carrick thrill the crowd as he worked his way forward form the rear of the field. With a very stout CVC/Cemex/Interstate Oil machine underneath him, Carrick would work up to finish second and transfer directly into the feature event.

Taking the green flag from the 18th starting position, Carrick would put on a masterful performance on the bottom side of the speedway. Carving his way through the field, Carrick would seemingly pick off cars at will.

When the dust settled on the feature event, the Lincoln, CA driver had picked up 14 positions as he capped the night off with a fourth-place finish.

Saturday night the scene shifted to Stockton, CA for the 8th round of Sprint Car Challenge Tour action. Again, getting off to a rough start with a nose wing collapsing during time trials, Carrick would end up seventh fastest in his group.

Lining up seventh in his heat race, Carrick would go to work on the slick Stockton Dirt Track, as he would have his elbows up just as he did the night before. Working his way up to a fourth-place finish, the Lincoln, CA driver would move into the feature event where he would again find himself lining up 18th.

Following an extensive track re-work prior to the feature event, some added moisture would create a very fast racing surface in the early goings of the 30-lap feature.

Patiently working his way forward, Carrick would begin to make up more ground as the surface started to widen out.

Putting on another strong charge, Carrick would pick up another 10 positions on this night as he closed his night out with an eighth-place finish.

Sunday night marked the end of a busy three-race stretch for Carrick and his Carrick Motorsports team as they checked back in at Placerville Speedway.

Timing in 26th on this night, Carrick’s night would take a turn for the worse as he would get upside down in heat race action. Moving into the ‘B’, Carrick would have another tough go as he would get upside down for a second time and bring his night, and weekend, to an end.

“I have to thank my guys for their hard work,” Blake Carrick said. “Hopefully we can shake some of this bad luck and get back to fighting for wins.”

Blake Carrick would like to thank CVC, Cemex, Interstate Oil, Conti, Harris and Sloan, Emerald, Timberworks Construction, Kaeding Performance, and Arai for their continued support
