PETERSEN MEDIA- After a busy weekend of 360ci action, Jace Vander Weerd made the trip to the Perris Auto Speedway on Saturday night where he would end up having brake issues plague him while in actin with the USAC/CRA Series.

“We didn’t in well, but we had a good heat race and I was looking forward to the feature,” Vander Weerd said. “Unfortunately the track went away a lot faster than we thought and I was really loose, and ended up having some brake issues and pulled in.”

Timing the Vander Weerd Construction/Stonegate Development/Battery Worx entry in 15th fastest during qualifying time trials, Vander Weerd would go on to pick up the win in his heat race.

Moving into the feature event, the Visalia, CA would have his work cut out for him as he found himself back in the 15th spot for the 30-lap feature event.

On a track that Vander Weerd as warmed up to over the last season and half, he would get off to a nice start as he would work his way up towards the Top-10, getting as high as the 11th spot. As the track continued to slick off, Vander Weerd would begin to fall back as he would fight a car that would continue to get loose on him, as he struggled to make traction.

Using a ton of brake on the slick ½ mile speedway, Vander Weerd would feel them begin to fade on him forcing him to pump them to get the fluid pumping through the system. As the problem increased and the laps wore on, Vander Weerd would opt to pull into the pit area early and call it a night.

“We were pretty loose in the feature, and once the brakes started to fade I made the decision to pull in,” Vander Weerd added. “I am really looking forward to getting back into the winged car this Friday night and back to Santa Maria on Saturday night.”

Jace and his Vander Weerd Racing team would like to thank Vander Weerd Construction, Stonegate Development, Battery Worx, Mid-Valley Pipe, Basic Industries, Factory Kahne Shocks, Steve Watt Enterprises, FK Rod Ends, PXP Racewear and K&N for their support in 2016.

2016 BY THE NUMBERS: Starts-18, Wins-0, Top 5’s-4, Top 10’s-11.

ON TAP: Jace will be aboard his winged 360ci entry on Friday night at the Keller Auto Speedway before heading to the Santa Maria Speedway on Saturday night with the USAC West Coast 360’s.
