Brake Issues Slow Jace Vander Weerd at The PAS

PETERSEN MEDIA- Getting back to work with the USAC/CRA Series on Saturday night at Perris Auto Speedway, brake issues midway through the feature event would knock Jace Vander Weerd out of the Top-10 and end his night early.
“It was sticky and fast all night long,” Jace Vander Weerd said. “We ran in the Top-10 until a brake issues forced me to pull back into the pit area and we were credited with an 18th place finish.”
Timing the Vander Weerd Construction/Stonegate Development/Mid-Valley Pipe machine in 11th fastest in qualifying time trials, Vander Weerd would line up in th second row of his heat race.
Finishing fourth in his heat, Vander Weerd would line the Basic Industries/FK Shocks/Steve Watt Enterprises backed No. 88 up in the sixth row for the 30-lap feature event.
When the race came to life, Vander Weerd would occupy the 10th spot as he worked the hooked ½ mile. Holding down the position in the early goings of the race, brake issues would arise making things tough on the Visalia, CA pilot.
Giving it a go for a few laps, Vander Weerd would ultimately be forced to end his night early as he pulled back to the trailer on the 13th lap and was officially scored 18th.
‘There wasn’t much passing when we were out there, so I think we could have ran somewhere in the Top-10,” Vander Weerd added. “We will try again this week.”
Jace and his Vander Weerd Racing team would like to thank Vander Weerd Construction, Stonegate Development, Mid-Valley Pipe, Basic Industries, Factory Kahne Shocks, Steve Watt Enterprises, FK Rod Ends, PXP Racewear and K&N for their support in 2017.
2017 BY THE NUMBERS: Starts-18, Wins-0, Top 5’s-7, Top 10’s-11.
