PETERSEN MEDIA: The dominant car with the Hunt Magnetos Wingess Tour pres. by C&H Veteran Enterprises all season long, the Brian Sperry Racing No. 51 and Austin Liggett claimed the 2017 championship on Friday night in Stockton, CA at the series’ season finale.

Though Liggett was not in action due to the race being rescheduled, the body of work was good enough for the team to claim the series title on the strength of five series wins and 11 Top-Five finishes.

“I am really proud of what we accomplished in 2017 with Austin Liggett and Sean Becker,” Brian Sperry said. “Austin was extremely good night in and night out, and it was great to rack up the wins as the consistent finishes we did.”

With Liggett out last Saturday night, winged sharp shooter, Sean Becker made his second start of the year in the potent Brian Sperry No. 51 machine during the series’ season finale.

Earning quick time honors, Becker had a very strong hot rod in the feature event. Battling for the second position, Becker would be involved in a very hard wreck that still has him in the hospital recovering.

“I hate to see racecar drivers get hurt, and it’s even more unsettling when it happens in your own car,” Sperry added. “I hate it for Sean, and his entire family and I send him, Lisa, Allison, and Travis my well wishes that he bounces back quickly.”

“It was a tough deal on Friday night, but in the big picture it was a great season, and again, I have to thank Austin and Sean for strapping in for me, as well as all of the great people who supported us as well as the series.”

Brian Sperry Racing would like to thank C&H Veteran Enterprises, Excel Environmental Services, Benic Enterprise, Santomauro Racing Products, Jarrett Soares Racing, and Bailey Bros. Racing Engines for their support in 2017.

2017 BY THE NUMBERS: Races-16, Wins-8, Top 5’s-15, Top 10’s-15
