Bubba DeCaires 14th During Nonstop Feature at Placerville Speedway

PETERSEN MEDIA: Signing in at Placerville Speedway on Saturday night one week removed from a tough outing in Hanford, CA, Bubba DeCaires picked up a 14th place during a non-stop feature event.
“Saturday was kind of an average night for us,” Bubba DeCaires said. “We didn’t get timed in well and then didn’t take advantage of the front row starting spot in our heat race and that dictated a lot. With the feature going nonstop and us starting in the back, we weren’t able to really get going.”
27 cars checked in at Placerville Speedway on Saturday night and DeCaires timed the Thompson’s Toyota/Morrison Concrete/MaxSells.Net backed No. 94 in 16th quickest in time trials, which was the last spot in the heat race inversion.
Lining up on the front row of his heat, the Elk Grove, CA driver didn’t get the jump he needed to power to the lead and slipped back to third. Hanging on to finish third, DeCaires was locked into the impending 25-lap feature event but he was mired deep in the field as he took the green flag from the 16th starting position.
On a very slick surface that saw much of the field go to work on the moisture that was still around the bottom groove, getting through traffic proved to be tough during a feature that went nonstop.
Simply trying to put his car where cars in front of him weren’t going, DeCaires wasn’t quite able to make any big gains through the field. Able to pick up a few positions over the course of the lightning-fast feature, DeCaires closed his night out with a 14th place finish.
“Being in that much traffic, I was just going where guys in front of me weren’t so I wasn’t following them around, but I couldn’t make up much ground,” DeCaires added. “I felt pretty good, and I’m curious if yellows would have helped, but sometimes you get a clean race like that and there isn’t anything you can do about it. Looking forward to the 4th of July race and I’m hoping we can be a little better.”
DeCaires would like to thank Thompson’s Toyota, Morrison Concrete, MaxSells.Net, Wion’s Body Shop, and El Dorado Hills Landscaping for their support.
BY THE NUMBERS: Races-9, Wins-0, Top 5’s-1, Top 10’s-3
ON TAP: DeCaires returns to action on July 4th back at Placerville Speedway.
