Bubba DeCaires Charges to Top-10 During Season Debut

PETERSEN MEDIA: Saturday night, Bubba DeCaires kicked his 2023 season off as he checked in at Placerville Speedway and proceeded to pick up a 10th place finish after taking the green flag from the 18th starting position.

“It was good to get back in the seat and get our season kicked off,” DeCaires said. “I didn’t get timed in well, but we raced well, and it was good to get back in the groove of things.”

A total of 35 cars checked into Placerville Speedway on Saturday for the track’s second points paying event of the season and the DeCaires kicked the night off by timing the Thompson’s Toyota/Morrison Concrete/MaxSells.Net No. 94 in 26thfastest.

In an early hole, the Elk Grove, CA native quickly turned his attention to heat race competition as he looked to avoid the semi and transfer directly into the 25-lap feature event.

Taking the green flag from the seventh starting position, DeCaires was after one of the four direct transfers that were up for grabs in his heat. On a slick and racy surface, DeCaires was able to make some swift moves around the high-banked bullring.

Racing his way into the fourth and final transfer position, DeCaires held the spot and punched his ticket into the ‘A’.

Lining up 18th on the starting grid based on his qualifying time, DeCaires was very patient from the rear of the field as he focused on keeping his nose clean and hitting his marks.

Working his way into 15th by the 10th lap, DeCaires continued to work his way forward as he raced into 12th on lap 14. The final laps were mired by cautions and DeCaires admittedly struggled to get going on each restart.

Able to maintain 12th over the myriad of restarts, the last one proved beneficial as he jumped into 10th, where he went on to finish.

“Qualifying like we did really put us in a deep hole, and I think if I can clean that up on my end we will be just fine,’ DeCaires added. “Other than that, we were all really happy to come away with a Top-10 after starting in the back.”

DeCaires would like to thank Thompson’s Toyota, Morrison Concrete, MaxSells.Net, Wion's Body Shop, and El Dorado Hills Landscaping for their support.

BY THE NUMBERS: Races-1, Wins-0, Top 5’s-0, Top 10’s-1

ON TAP: DeCaires will be in action this Friday and Saturday night in Tulare, CA.
