Bubba DeCaires Picks Up Placerville Top-10
PETERSEN MEDIA: Disappointed with his showing one week ago, Bubba DeCaires rebounded well, and had a much better night at Placerville Speedway this past Saturday as he scored a ninth-place finish.
“I was happy with our speed, and overall, much happier with how the night went compared to how it went a week ago,” DeCaires said. “I do think we have some things to get ironed out for qualifying as well as on our car late in the night, but we are gaining on it.”
Timing the Thompson’s Toyota/Morrison Concrete/MaxSells.Net backed No. 94 in 11th fastest amongst the 27 cars checked into the pit area, the Elk Grove, CA native lined up on the front row of his heat race.
Needing to pick up the win to advance into the redraw, DeCaires did just that as he worked around the ¼ mile bullring to perfection. Leading from start to finish, DeCaires’ win put him in the redraw and the five lined him up in the third row of the 25-lap feature event.
On a very racy track for the feature event, DeCaires settled into sixth as the field shuffled out early in the finale. An early restart saw DeCaires slip back to seventh before falling to eighth at the race’s halfway point.
Working his way back into seventh on a late restart, DeCaires continued to search around and make a late charge in the closing laps. Unable to do so, the youngster capped his night off with a ninth place finish, giving himself his fifth Top-10 of the season.
“We are heading in the right direction and it is good to get back in the Top-10,” DeCaires added. “I also need to do a better job in the seat of getting into a rhythm. We have a couple of weekends off, and then we will be back at Chico and Placerville at the end of the month.”
