PETERSEN MEDIA- Friday night saw another generation of DeCaires take to the dirt in Northern California. Greg ‘Bubba’ DeCaires kicked off his career in Winged Sprint Cars as he piloted the Dale Miller Motorsports No. 4SA during Silver Dollar Speedway’s weekly opener.
“I thought Friday night went well for my first winged sprint car race,” Bubba DeCaires said. “I got more comfortable each time we hit the track, and we got faster and faster as the night went.”
29 cars checked into Silver Dollar Speedway on Friday night, and DeCaires timed the Thompson’s Auto Center/RedHawk Casino/Dale Miller Septic, Inc. backed entry in 21st fastest in qualifying time trials.
Lining up in the third row of his heat race, the Elk Grove, CA youngster would finish seventh in his heat race and be forced into the ‘B’ Main.
Looking for one of four transfer positions into the 25-lap feature event, DeCaires would race into the fourth position as he found himself battling with some Silver Dollar Speedway veterans.
Working the low side of the speedway, the rookie would make a slight mistake that saw him get over the infield berm and give up the transfer position. Chasing after Jason York for fourth, time would run out on DeCaires and he would end his night with a fifth place finish in the semi.
“It was definitely a bummer to make that mistake in the ‘B’, and miss out on an opportunity to make more laps in the feature,” DeCaires added. “Hopefully I can build on Friday night, and be better the next time we hit the track. I really want to thank Dale Miller and his team for this opportunity. It is a great car, and hopefully I can get it up front for him this season.”
Greg DeCaires and the Dale Miller Motorsports team would like to thank Thompson’s Auto, RedHawk Casino, Dale Miller Septic, Inc, El Dorado Hills Landscaping, Anrak Corporation, Frank’s Body Shop, Wion’s Powder Coating, Smith Titanium, King Racing Products, A.R.T. Speed Equipment, Motion Media Wraps, Hangtown Sheet Metal and Fabrication, and Vortex Wings for their support.
2018 BY THE NUMBERS: Starts- 1, Wins- 0, Top-5’s-0, Top-10’s-0
ON TAP: Dale Miller Motorsports is scheduled to return to Placerville Speedway on Saturday night with Justin Sanders behind the wheel.
