C&M Motorsports and Andy Forsberg Second at Silver Cup Opener
PETERSEN MEDIA- Fans were treated to a battle for ages at Silver Dollar Speedway on Saturday night, as Andy Forsberg and Sean Becker went toe-to-toe during the opening night of the Silver Cup. At the end, Forsberg and the C&M Motorsports team would come up just short as they recorded a second place finish.
“Friday night was an extremely fun feature event,” Andy Forsberg said. “Cody and my guys gave me a great car, and we went at it there battling for the lead.”
With 28-cars checked into the Silver Dollar Speedway for the track’s first 360ci event of the season, Forsberg laid down a great lap during time trials, and ended up atop the speed chart aboard the PitStopUSA/Autism Awareness/PT Shocks backed No. 7c.
On a hooked up and lightening fast racing surface, Forsberg would grab a third place finish during his heat race before the two-pill put him on the front row of the feature event.
When the Silver Cup opening night feature event went green, Forsberg would settle into the second spot as he chased after Sean Becker. When the leaders reached traffic they still kept up their quick pace and it then morphed into an extremely exciting battle for the lead.
Exchanging haymakers lap after lap, Forsberg would avoid near disaster after contact with a lapped car late in the race.
Getting off the end of turns three and four after contact, the yellow would fly for a stalled car on the speedway, and Forsberg would get back in the second spot.
Not shying away in the final laps, Forsberg would let it all hang out as he tried to get back in front of Becker, but would come up just short and end his night with a second place finish.
“It was an old school racetrack, and we were able to get up and go,” Forsberg said. “It was a lot of fun, and this car has been really fast in our first two nights out. I have to thank Cody and Mandi for continuing to put me in a great spot.”
