PETERSEN MEDIA: With regions continuing to open up and allow racing to commence week by week, the Memorial Day Weekend saw a handful of races take place and the growing theme was California drivers leading the way.
The World of Outlaws returned to action as they took to the high banks of I-55 Raceway in Pevely, MO. On Friday night it was Grass Valley, CA native, Brad Sweet returning to victory lane with his Kasey Kahne Racing team. Saturday night, it was Sweet’s brother-in-law’s turn to grab the win. In his first visit to the speedway, Elk Grove, CA driver, Kyle Larson adapted well. Friday night Larson established a new single lap track record, and on Saturday night he used his KSE Racing Products to pull into victory lane with Paul Silva.
For the first time since February the USAC National Midget Series came back to life. On Friday night at Port City Raceway Tyler Courtney picked up the win with his Clauson Marshall Racing team. The next night it was Ione, CA native Justin Grant turning into victory lane aided by KSE Racing Products on his RAMS Racing mount. Grant continued the winning ways as he traveled to Valley Speedway on Sunday night an took home a POWRi Midget Series win.
Fresno, CA driver, Dominic Scelzi scored a win with the ASCS Sooner Region at Lake Ozark Speedway, while Tracy, CA pilot Kyle Offill picked up his first career win in the Midwest as he topped Sprint Invaders action at 34 Raceway. DJ Netto who hails from Hanford, CA traveled to Marysville, CA and scored another feature event, as Jack Dover won at Park Jefferson, Mark Smith continues his red hot 20202 season and won at St. Francois County Raceway, Sye Lynch won at Roaring Knob, and Tyler Drueke took the win from US 36 Raceway.
