PETERSEN MEDIA: Making the trip to Las Vegas, NV last week, Tanner Carrick checked into the ½ mile to battle with the USAC West Coast 360 Series. Having some hard luck on the opening lap of Wednesday night’s feature, Carrick bounced back on Thursday night and recorded a 13th place finish.
“It was an okay trip for our team,” Carrick said. “Wednesday we were in the wrong place at the wrong time, but Thursday went a little better and we got to have some non-wing fun.”
Carrick opened his two-night stay in Sin City up by timing the CVC/Cemex/Interstate Oil backed No. 83T machine in 17th quickest in qualifying time trials before scoring a fifth place finish in his heat race.
On the opening lap of the feature event, Carrick would have some bad luck as a car would slide up the track and get into him causing front end damage and bringing his night to an early end.
Making repairs during the day on Thursday, the Lincoln, CA driver would check back into The Las Vegas Dirt Track for one more night of non-wing action. Timing in eighth fastest on this night, Carrick would again record a fifth place finish in heat race action which placed him in the 15th starting position.
On the slick Las Vegas Dirt Track, Carrick would find himself battling with likes of Jake Swanson and Kevin Thomas, Jr. Holding his own with some of the best in the non-wing business, Carrick would seeming get stronger as the laps clicked off.
Continuing to exchange blows, Carrick would close his night out with a 13th place finish as he now looks to open up his USAC National Midget campaign this weekend.
“It was fun getting to another new track and learning,” Carrick added. “It’s been a fun couple of weekends in the Sprint Car, and now I am looking forward to getting back in a Keith Kunz Midget this weekend.”
Tanner Carrick would like to thank CVC, Cemex, Interstate Oil, Conti, Harris and Sloan, Emerald, Timberworks Construction, and Spike Chassis for their support.
