PETERSEN MEDIA: Following a stint of racing in California, Tanner Carrick and the Keith Kunz Motorsports team were in action for a pair of POWRi events in Illinois where an eighth place finish at Spoon River Speedway on Saturday night would follow a wreck at Jacksonville Speedway.

“Friday night we had to come from the “B”, and as we were working our way forward we got caught up in a wreck,” Carrick said. “Saturday night we were up to fifth at one point but slipped back to finish eighth.”

Taking on the Lucas Oil POWRi Series over the weekend, Carrick would get his night started off by finishing fourth in his heat race. With points playing a part in transfers, the Lincoln, CA driver would just miss out on the transfer as he found himself on the pole of the semi.

Handling business in the ‘B’, the rookie midget pilot would make his way to the feature event, where he would line up in the 17th starting position.

When the race got underway, Carrick began working his way forward through the field. Reaching the halfway point, Carrick would get into a bit of trouble as he would get involved in a wreck that would bring his night to a premature end.

Traveling to Spoon River, IL on Saturday night, Carrick came out strong in his heat race as he finished in the second position aboard the TRD/Curb Records/IPC backed No. 71K entry.

Lining up in the seventh starting spot for the feature event, Carrick would run very well as he battled in the Top-Five for much of the night. Getting into fifth at one point, a slight bobble would relegate the youngster back to the eighth position when the checkered flew on the race.

“We had some misfortune on Friday night, but it was really nice to get these guys a Top-10 on Saturday,” Carrick added. “I have to thank Keith, Pete, and all of the guys who work so hard on this team.”

Tanner Carrick and the Keith Kunz Motorsports team would like to thank TRD, Curb Records, IPC, Walker Performance Filtration, Cemex, CVC, and Shell Shock for their support.

ON TAP: Tanner Carrick will fly back to California this week with a break in the KKM schedule and pilot his family owned sprint car at Placerville Speedway.
