Carrick Captures Pair of Third Place Finishes

PETERSEN MEDIA: Tanner Carrick was a model of consistency over the weekend. Racing at Stockton Dirt Track on Saturday night, and at Placerville Speedway on Sunday, Carrick would pick up a pair of third place finishes.

“It was a really good weekend for our team, and you can definitely say we are consistent, “ Tanner Carrick said with a smile. “We obviously would have liked to have been two spots better each night, but we are rolling really good right now and hoping we can keep it up with the SCCT this weekend.”

Saturday night at Stockton Dirt Track, a two-heat race format was used, and Carrick would pick up a third-place finish in his first heat and would win the second heat aboard the CVC/Cemex/Interstate Oil backed No. 83t machine.

Find himself on the front row for the feature event, Carrick would settle into second as he chased after the early leader, Willie Croft. On a fairly narrow surface at the Stockton Dirt Track, a slight bobble early in the race would see Carrick slip up and allow Keith Day, Jr to get by.

With passing tough, Carrick would hold steady on the podium and take third at the waving of the checkered flag.

A rare Sunday night show at Placerville Speedway would see 36 cars check in for the event. Splitting up qualifying groups, the Lincoln, CA pilot would time in fifth fastest.

Racing to a win in heat race action, Carrick would move into the redraw where the ‘one’ would place him on the pole for the 25-lap feature event.

A slick surface with a huge curb was presented to the teams for the feature event, and when the race went green, Carrick would settle into second as Justyn Cox was able to get the jump.

Working the cushion, Carrick would start to reel in Cox as traffic became a factor in the race up front.

As he cut into Cox’s lead, an untimely caution would wave, setting up a double file restart and taking the leaders out of traffic. Getting stuck out in the slick on the restart, Justin Sanders would get by Carrick and he would again go on to close his night out with a third place finish.

“The top was so fast on Saturday night, it was hard to make a pass back on Sanders for the second spot,” Carrick said. “Really happy with how we performed all weekend, and have to thank my guys for all they do.”

Tanner Carrick would like to thank CVC, Cemex, Interstate Oil, Conti, Harris and Sloan, Emerald, Timberworks Construction, Kaeding Performance, and Arai for their continued support

BY THE NUMBERS: Starts: 25, Wins: 2, Top 5’s: 12, Top 10’s: 18
