PETERSEN MEDIA: Showing some versatility last weekend, Tanner Carrick climbed aboard a potent Driven Midwest micro and took part in the High Banks Hustle where he would race his way into the big show the hard way and put on a hard charge until a parts failure saw his night come to an early end.

“I have to thank everyone that made it possible to run the High Banks Hustle,” Tanner Carrick said. “We worked hard to put it in the show which was a feat in itself, and then we raced our way up to sixth with about 10-to-go but unfortunately a part failure ended our night a little early.”

After re-acclimating to a micro during preliminary action, Carrick would grid the field from the front row of his heat race on Saturday night. Flexing his muscle early, Carrick would grab the win which then placed him in the second row of his qualifier.

Needing to pass a couple of cars for points, the Lincoln, CA driver would finish third and would find himself out of the finale just narrowly which meant he would need to race his way into the ‘A’ through the semi.

Gridding the field from the second row, Carrick would continue to show a ton of speed in the Driven Midwest entry as he was able to race his way to the win and punch his ticket to the ‘A’ where he would grid the field from the 23rd starting position.

A extremely long day and long night of racing finally came to a head when the feature event went green. From the back of the pack, the USAC National Midget Series competitor would have his elbows up as he continued to put some strong laps together despite being mired in traffic.

Working his way inside the Top-10, Carrick would continue to surge ahead as he would find himself in sixth in the race’s closing laps. With 10-to-go a steering bolt would fail on Carrick’s machine and it would bring his night to a disappointing end.

“It was a bummer considering how hard we had to work to get to that point,” Carrick said. “It was just one of those deals. I am really thankful for this opportunity, and really have to thank everyone that worked hard all weekend.”

Tanner Carrick would like to thank CVC, Cemex, Interstate Oil, Conti, Harris and Sloan, Emerald, Timberworks Construction, Arai, and Spike Chassis for their support.

2018 BY THE NUMBERS: Starts: 9, Wins: 0, Top 5’s: 0, Top 10’s: 3

ON TAP: Carrick will be in action in his native California this weekend as he will battle the King of the West Series at Ocean Speedway on Friday night before traveling to Placerville Speedway on Saturday night.
