PETERSEN MEDIA: A busy week of racing action in Illinois for Tanner Carrick and his Keith Kunz Motorsports was highlighted by a great Sunday night run in Jacksonville, IL that saw Carrick advance from eighth to pick up a third place finish.

“It was a pretty good trip to IL for our team,” Carrick said. “We had a little bad luck Friday night, but on Thursday and Sunday we were really fast.”

Thursday night saw Carrick check in at FALS in Fairbury, IL where he would pick up a second place finish in heat race action aboard the Craftsman/CVC/TRD backed entry.

Moving into the feature event, the Lincoln, CA driver would take the green flag from the ninth starting position. From the fifth row he would quickly get moving forward as he charged towards the front.

Carrick would get up into the third position as he looked for another podium finish with his KKM team but contact late would see him get shoved up the racetrack which would kill his momentum.

When he was able to get back going, he had lost a ton of track position, but still kept his machine inside the Top-10 as he picked up a ninth place finish.

Friday night action at Lincoln Speedway would see Carrick again finish second in heat race competition, but the feature event would see him finish his night early as a parts failure would force a DNF.

Following a Saturday night rain out, Sunday saw the end of a busy week take place at Jacksonville Speedway in Jacksonville, IL.

Finishing fifth in his heat race, Carrick would move into a qualifier where his third place finish would line him up eighth in the feature event.

On the racy bullring, Carrick would charge hard as he had a very strong machine underneath him. Working his way up into third, the lead duo had built up a sizeable gap and Carrick desperately needed a late caution.

Not having that fortune, Carrick still capped off the busy weekend of racing with a podium finish by way of his third place run.

“I really was hoping for a late yellow to bunch everyone back up on Sunday,” Carrick said. “Unfortunately it just didn’t play out, but still great to finish third. It was a fun week, and now time to head home and do some sprint car racing.”

Tanner Carrick and the Keith Kunz Motorsports team would like to thank Craftsman, CVC, TRD, Spike Chassis, Cemex, Arai, and Shell Shock for their support.
