Carson Hammes Back on Marysville Raceway Podium

PETERSEN MEDIA: Taking part in Marysville Raceway’s Firework Spectacular on July 3rd, Carson Hammes returned to racing action in a big way as he picked up a third-place finish and shared the podium with Andy Forsberg, and Justin Peck.

“Happy with how our night went, and to run third to Andy Forsberg and Justin Peck is nothing be disappointed with,” Carson Hammes said. “We have an odd stretch in our schedule, so it was great to get a night of racing in.”

With 12 cars on hand braving the extreme heat in the area, Hammes opened his night up by timing the Movement Brewing/STS Farming/All About Fire Protection backed No. 56C in eighth fastest in time trials.

Lining up on the front row of his heat race alongside his older brother, boy Hammes’ needed to pick up the win to earn a berth in the nightly redraw. When the green flag flew, C. Hammes got the jump and quickly created space between himself and his brother.

Leading the way from start to finish, Hammes scored the win and went on to pull the five pill, which lined him up in the third row of the feature event.

As the feature event roared to life, Hammes ran in fifth for the opening stanzas before moving into fourth. Once in fourth, he felt pressure from his brother as the duo locked horns and battled for the fourth position.

Swapping the position a few times over the next trio of laps, C. Hammes was able to take the spot before racing into third on the sixth lap.

Chasing after the lead duo of Forsberg and Peck who were setting a torrid pace, Hammes continued to hit his marks as be worked through slower traffic.

When the checkered flag flew, Hammes capped his Fast Cars and Freedom night off with a third-place finish.

“We had a good car all night long, and it was a lot of fun racing with Dawson in our heat, and then at times in the feature,” Hammes added. “Thanks to my family for all of their continued support, as well as Samuel, Joseph, and Josh Wiesz for all of their help.”

Hammes Motorsports would like to thank Movement Brewing, STS Farming, All About Fire Protection, Summit Partners Burbank Agency, Escalera Inc., Harper Inc., and Ace Attorney Services for their continued support.
