Carson Hammes Claims First Career Sprint Car Win

PETERSEN MEDIA: A couple of weeks back, Carson Hammes gave his older brother Dawson, everything he could handle during the Sprint Car feature event at Marysville Raceway. Running second that night, the younger Hammes brother would not be denied this past week as he raced to his first career Sprint Car win.

“To run second to Dawson during our last race was a lot of fun, but it definitely left me wanting a little more,” Carson Hammes said. “This week, things went in our favor, and we were able to pick up our first career sprint car win.”

Hammes kicked his night off by timing the STS Farming/Movement Brewing/Summit Partners backed No. 56C entry in second fastest in qualifying time trials.

Lining up third in his heat race, the Marysville, CA driver got a nice jump when the race went green and he moved into second. Hanging on to finish in second, Hammes garnered a berth in the nightly redraw due to his effort in time trials.

Drawing the five, Hammes had his work cut out for himself as he lined up in the third row for the 25-lapper.

When the race got underway, Hammes slowly worked his way through the Top-5 as he chased after early leader, Drake Standley.

While Standley was solid out front, Hammes kept with him as they soon got into the lapping process. Once in traffic, Hammes was able to take advantage of Standley’s misstep and surge into the top spot.

Once in the lead, Hammes never looked back, though he did feel a bit of pressure from Standley in the closing laps. Keeping him at bay, Hammes successfully captured his first career Sprint Car win as he also sits atop the point standings at Marysville Raceway.

“It is a family and friend effort, and I am thankful for everyone that supports us,” Hammes included. “I’d like to especially thank all of our partners, my parents, Dawson, Ally, Uncle Tony and Hunter for all of their help and support.”

Hammes Motorsports would like to thank Movement Brewing, STS Farming, All About Fire Protection, Summit Partners Burbank Agency, Escalera Inc., Harper Inc., and Ace Attorney Services for their continued support.

BY THE NUMBERS: Races: 4, Wins: 1, Top 5’s: 2, Top 10’s: 2
