PETERSEN MEDIA: After watching older brother, Dawson, race his way to a win one week ago, young Carson Hammes was not to be outdone as he had his turn on Saturday night at Marysville Raceway. Leading all 25-laps, Hammes powered his way to his second feature event win of the season as the championship season heads down the home stretch.
“We have a great group that continues to support us in one way or another, so it is great to thank them for all they do with a win,” Carson Hammes said.
With 20 cars in the Marysville Raceway pit area on Saturday night, the Marysville, CA driver got things kicked off by timing in sixth quickest in time trials aboard the STS Farming/All About Fire Protection/Summit Partners No. 56C.
Lining up in the second row of his heat race, the younger of the two Hammes brothers got a great jumped as he wasted no time racing his way into the top spot. Hanging on to score the win, Hammes locked himself into the redraw where the one pill placed him on the pole of the 25-lap feature event.
Taking the green flag out front, Hammes showcased a very strong entry as he was able to leave the field in his wake as he jumped out front early. While he was able to keep the field at bay he was still pressured heavily at times by the likes of Jake Haulot and Justin Henry.
Not to be denied on this night, the youngster was able to keep his machine up front as he roared to his second feature event win of the season after leading all 25-laps.
“We had a good car and a ton of people helping us, and that makes it a little easier to focus on racing,” Hammes said. “Thanks to my parents, Dawson, and everyone that helps us at the track.”
