PETERSEN MEDIA- Carson Macedo and his Tarlton Racing team raced close to their shop on Friday night, as the Lemoore, CA native picked up a fourth place finish during the opening round of the King of Kings series at the Keller Auto Speedway.

“We had a really good car, but I made some mistakes running up front, and faded towards the end of the night,” Carson Macedo said. “My guys put me in a great position, I just did not get the job done.”

25 cars checked into the pit area for the track’s first weekly event of the season, and Macedo timed the WFO Apparel/Elite Landscape Construction/Tarlton and Son Inc. No. 21x machine in fifth fastest.

Lining up in the third row of his heat race, Macedo worked his way to the front in a hurry, and hooked up in a very entertaining battle with close friend, DJ Netto. Getting the best of Netto, Macedo would drive away to pick up the win, and transfer into the feature event.

With the invert being six, Macedo would line up in the second row for the 30-lap event, but on the initial start, pole sitter, Scott Parker, lost the handle on his machine, and spun around, putting Macedo on the front row for the restart.

Getting to the early lead once the race got underway, Macedo would slip to the second spot on a lap two restart, as be then began chasing after Cory Eliason. On the extremely slick surface, Macedo was able to reel Eliason in in thick traffic, and began pressuring for the lead, as the race for the lead turned into a three car race, as third place running, Steven Tiner began pressuring Macedo.

Just as the race passed the halfway point, a red flag flew, and bunched the field back up, and gave the front runners clear track. The restart did not go how Macedo how hoped however, as Tiner was able to get by him for the second spot, and he then felt pressure from Bud Kaeding for the third position.

Holding strong, a red flag would fly again on the 21st lap, and the field would bunch up for a nine-lap shootout. The final nine-laps was reminiscent of Macedo’s heat race, as he and Netto again found themselves in a torrid battle for the final spot on the podium. Though he won the battle in the heat race, he would come up just short in the feature, as Netto would clear him in the closing laps, as he settled for a fourth place finish at the stripe.

“I felt really good early in the race, but as the race went on, the track continued to slick off, and I made some mistakes,” he said. “The car got a little free, but I missed my marks and gave up some spots, and in this sport you can afford to do that. I really have to thank this Tarlton Racing team and our sponsors for continuting to support us, and let us compete at an elite level.”

Tarlton Racing would like to thank Elite Landscape Construction, Tarlton and Son, Inc., WFO Apparel, Executive Auto Sales, Tachi Palace Hotel and Casino, Pabco Gypsum, Bandy and Associates, All Star Performance, Corporate America Investments, and BG Lubricants for their support through the 2015 season.

ON TAP: Macedo will be back in Hanford, CA on Friday night before returning to King of the West action on Saturday night in Chico, CA for the Bradway Memorial.
