PETERSEN MEDIA- After an ugly wreck at the Thunderbowl during the Cotton Classic, Carson Macedo and his Tarlton Racing team rebounded quite well as the Lemoore, CA driver ended up finishing fourth overall in the Trophy Cup after a sixth place effort during Saturday night’s feature event.

“We got into a wreck on Thursday night which I wish would not have happened because Paul Baines gave me a great car all weekend,” Macedo explained.

With the new Trophy Cup Format using a drivers best night for their Saturday night total, Macedo headed into Saturday night sitting 14th points after his 9th place run on Friday night.

Running a heat race on Saturday night, Macedo finished third in his heat race, bumping himself up to 11th in the standings, meaning he would start the feature event in the 14th position.

On the extremely slick Thunderbowl Raceway surface, Macedo was able to move forward in the early goings of the feature event, as he had his WFO Apparel/Elite Landscape Construction/Tarlton and Son, Inc. No. 21 machine up into the 10th spot, when the race’s first caution waived on the 10th lap.

Continuing to battle with Justyn Cox and Terry McCarl, Macedo continued to work forward, as he sat in the eighth spot on the 18th lap.

As the track began to take rubber, Macedo was able to still pick up some spots, as he worked past Craig Stidham to take over the seventh spot just before the caution flew with 16-to-go, that ultimately turned into the scheduled fuel stop.

When the action resumed following the stop, Macedo was able to get by DJ Netto who got out of shape, and moved into the sixth spot. Over that final laps, passing was put to a premium, and though he tried to get out of the rubber to gain move points, Macedo would come across the stripe with a sixth place finish, ultimately giving him a fourth place finish in the Trophy Cup standings.

“It was a really good weekend for us,” Macedo said. “I think we had a better night going overall on Thursday night, which would have been nicer to come into Saturday night with, but we stayed in contention, and I am really happy with how things went. I can’t thank everyone who helps on this team enough for all they do for me.”

Tarlton Racing would like to thank Elite Landscape Construction, Tarlton and Son, Inc., WFO Apparel, Tachi Palace Hotel and Casino, Pabco Gypsum, Bandy and Associates, All Star Performance, Corporate America Investments, and BG Lubricants for their support through the 2014 season.

ON TAP: Macedo and his Tarlton Racing team will now return to action on November 1st at the Stockton Dirt Track.
