Carson Macedo Continues Strong 2014 Campaign

PETERSEN MEDIA- Carson Macedo has had a very strong 2014 season, and he kept that going over the weekend as he scored a third place finish with the Ocean Sprints Presented By Taco Bravo on Friday night, and a second place finish with the King of the West Series at the Thunderbowl Raceway in Tulare, CA on Saturday night.
“I can’t thank the entire Tarlton family and my family for their continued support, and letting me do what I love,” Macedo said. “Paul Baines works so hard in the shop, and it really shows on a weekly basis.”
Friday night at the Ocean Speedway, Macedo timed his WFO Apparel/Tarlton and Son/Pabco Gypsum entry in ninth fastest, putting himself in the third heat race, where his third place finish put him in the fifth row of the feature event.
In the feature event, Macedo flew around the Ocean Speedway as he quickly worked his way into the third spot, as he tracked down Justin Sanders, and Bud Kaeding, who were fighting each other for the top spot.
Throwing his hat into the mix, Macedo was able to challenge Sanders for the second spot on a few occasions, but the end result was a very strong third place effort.
Saturday night saw Macedo and his Tarlton Racing team put the 410ci power plant into Macedo’s No. 21x machine, and take on the King of the West Series for the Peter Murphy Classic.
Timing in 13th fastest, the young gasser was able to take advantage of his front row starting position, and pick up the heat race win, putting him in the night’s dash, which was an Australian Pole Shuffle on this occasion.
Losing his battle to Kyle Hirst, Macedo still was able to start on the front row, and after a series of stoppages that hampered the start of the race, Macedo was able to grab the lead with Kyle Hirst hot on his tail.
Falling into the second spot, Macedo did not go away, as he and Hirst thrilled the crowd, as they exchanged slide jobs for 12 laps, before Hirst got into the wall, and Macedo was able to get some breathing room until the caution flew on the 14th lap.
Choosing the outside on the restart, Macedo slipped back to the third spot as Brent Kaeding and Jonathan Allard found the bottom to their liking, but Macedo held strong, and tracked down second running Kaeding in the latter stages of the race, as he would hold the spot at the finish line, marking his career best finish with the series to date.
“It is just awesome to be on the podium with guys like Brent Kaeding and Jonathan Allard,” Macedo said. “They are guys I have always looked up to, and it is awesome to be racing with them now. This Tarlton Racing team is an awesome group, and I can’t thank everyone who helps on it, and lets me have fun on a weekly basis.”
Tarlton Racing would like to thank Elite Landscape Construction, Tarlton and Son, Inc., WFO Apparel, Tachi Palace Hotel and Casino, Pabco Gypsum, Bandy and Associates, All Star Performance, Corporate America Investments, and BG Lubricants for their support through the 2014 season.
ON TAP: Macedo and his Tarlton Racing team will follow the King of the West Series to the Stockton Dirt Track this Saturday night.
