Carson Macedo Rallies To Top-10 at Forni Classic

PETERSEN MEDIA- Carson Macedo rebounded from an opening lap spin during the Ninth Annual Mark Forni Classic at the Placerville Speedway on Saturday night with the Civil War Series Presented By Flowmaster to finish ninth.

“It was a rough night, but at the end of the day we are happy with a ninth place finish,” Macedo said. “I put our team in a huge hole during time trials, and then we were in catch up mode all night.”

With 34 cars on hand for the $5000-to-win event on Saturday night, Macedo timed his WFO Apparel/Tachi Palace Hotel and Casino/Elite Landscape Construction No. 21x machine in 20th fastest, putting himself behind the heat race inversion.

Starting in his heat, the Lemoore, CA driver was able to work into the fourth and final transfer spot, as he would earn a berth in the feature event, though he would have his work cut out for him as he rolled off from the 18th position.

The race got off to a rough start as contact in turn one on the opening lap turned him around, and he would now restart from the tail end of the field.

With the track staying fast on the bottom, Macedo searched both high and low, as he slowly worked his way forward from the back of the pack.

Taking advantage of numerous double file restarts, Macedo was one of the few who was able to gain positions on the speedway.

Trying his hardest by running on the cushion hard, Macedo would pick up spots, and then get into the cushion too hard, and fall back, but he was persistent, and when the checkered flag flew on the event, Macedo had worked his way up to the ninth spot.

“I just couldn’t seem to get in a groove with all of the stoppages,” Macedo said. “I would pick up some spots, and then would get over the cushion and lose them, and then slowly get them back. It was a learning night for sure, and coming from the back, I’m happy we didn’t’ tear anything up. I have to thank the Tarlton family, Paul Baines, my Family, and WFO and all of our sponsors for their support.”

Tarlton Racing would like to thank Elite Landscape Construction, Tarlton and Son, Inc., WFO Apparel, Tachi Palace Hotel and Casino, Pabco Gypsum, Bandy and Associates, All Star Performance, Corporate America Investments, and BG Lubricants for their support through the 2014 season.

ON TAP: Macedo and his Tarlton Racing team will be back in action on Friday night at the Ocean Speedway for the final Johnny Key Classic qualifying race.
