PETERSEN MEDIA- Returning home for the weekend after kicking his Midwest season off last week, Carson Macedo would have a nice showing in Tulare, CA that saw him run second for the second consecutive race with the King of the West Series as he took runner up honors at the Peter Murphy Classic.

“It’s a huge honor to get on the podium at Pete’s race,” Carson Macedo said. “It was an extremely tough field of cars, but fortunately Paul Baines, Tom Tarlton, and this crew gave me a really good car.”

Timing the Elite Landscape Construction/Tarlton and Son, Inc./Executive Auto Sales No. 21x machine in third fastest during his qualifying flight, Macedo would finish in the second spot of heat race action and move into both the feature event and the Pole Shuffle.

Finishing sixth in the Shuffle, the Lemoore, CA driver would grid the field from the third row for the 30-lap feature event. As the track took rubber at the end of the non wing race, track crews would go to work on the surface during driver intro’s in hopes of providing a racy surface.

With many thinking the track would slick off in a few laps, the surface would hold together and stay extremely fast, making for a wild feature in traffic as some drivers were too tight to maneuver.

Macedo was able to slowly work his way forward following the race’s final caution on the second lap. Getting up into the second spot, Macedo would get held up a bit in lapped traffic as he chased after Bud Kaeding.

Finally eliminating the cars in between himself and the leader, Macedo would quickly begin closing the gap, but would just run out of time as he would be forced to settle with a second place finish.

Macedo and company were also in action on Friday night as they took on the 360 Challenge Tour. Timing in second fastest during his qualifying group, Macedo would grid the field from the third starting spot aboard the Tachi Palace Hotel and Casino/Pabco Gypsum/Bandy and Associates entry.

A torrid battle with DJ Netto would see Macedo finish in the fourth spot and be forced to make a stop in the night’s ‘B’ Main event.

Working his way forward to finish second in the semi, Macedo would advance to the 35-lap feature event where he line dup in the 15th starting position. Working his way into the Top-10 by the time the first caution flew on the 11th lap, Macedo would take advantage of the restart as he would surge his way forward and find himself up in the Top-10 battling with Jason Meyers, Kyle Hirst, and Rico Abreu.

Running in fifth with 10-to-go, the restart would not go Macedo’s way as he would lose several spots and find himself back in the 10th position. Able to grab a spot in the closing laps, Macedo would take the checkered flag with a ninth place finish.

“We had a really good car on Friday night too, but I just messed up on a late restart and it cost us” Macedo said. “I really have to thank the Tarlton family for continuing to put me in such a great spot, as well as the guys who work on this thing for always giving me their best effort.”

Tarlton Racing would like to thank Elite Landscape Construction, Tarlton and Son, Inc., Executive Auto Sales, Tachi Palace Hotel and Casino, Pabco Gypsum, Bandy and Associates, All Star Performance, and BG Lubricants for their support through the 2017 season.

BY THE NUMBERS: Races: 11, Wins: 0, Top 5’s: 2, Top 10’s: 4.
