(PETERSEN MEDIA- Aptos, CA, )- After nearly a month off from action, the Civil War Series pres. by Flowmaster is set to light the wick on Friday night as the series travels to Ocean Speedway for the first of two back-to-back visits as they take part in the opening night of the annual Howard Kaeding Classic.

Honoring a living legend known as ‘The Campbell Comet” this weekend honors Howard Kaeding who tormented fields during his tenure in the San Jose area. In what has turned into a two-day extravaganza at the Santa Cruz County Fairgrounds facility, the action kick off on Friday night as the Civil War Series pres. by Flowmaster goes toe-to-toe with the Ocean Sprints pres. by Flowmaster.

A star studded field is expected to be on hand going for HK Classic glory led by young up and comer, Cole Macedo who paces the field at the top of the point standings. Macedo has been extremely fast as of late at Ocean Speedway, and the HK Classic is an event that would prove to be a memorable first career Civil War Series feature event win.

Joining Macedo on Friday night will be driver such as Jarrett Soares, DJ Freitas, Burt Foland, defending race winner Kyle Hirst, Ocean Sprints pres. by Taco Bravo point leader, and former race winner, Brad Furr, another former race winner Justin Sanders, Shane Golobic, Tanner Thorson, Koen Shaw, newly minted Speedweek Northwest Champion, DJ Netto and a slew of other challengers going for HK Classic glory.

With the race honoring Howard Kaeding, it is only fitting that legendary pilot, Brent Kaeding will make his first start of the season as his famed No. 69 entry will be in action this weekend. Joining BK this weekend will be his two sons, and stand out drivers in their own right, Tim and Bud Kaeding. The Kaeding’s have been so instrumental in getting this race up and running and continue to grow it year by year and it has quickly turned into a marquee event in California.

Following the fireworks on the track Friday night, the extracurricular activies of the weekend will kick off out side of turn four as High Five Pizza and their catering company, Catering by 5 will be on hand serving appetizers, soft drink, and beer to those 21 and up to all once the checkered flag waives. A small donation is all that is asked to take part in the Post Race Party, with all proceeds going to the NARC Benevolent Fund. Catering by 5 has been instrumental in the HK Classic since it’s inception and well thank Miles and his team for the efforts and dedication to the sport and this great event.

Friday night the Grandstands are slated to open at 4:30 pm with tickets going on sale. Adults will be admitted for $17, Seniors for $16, Juniors aged 12-15 will be $12, Kids 6-11 will be $8, while children five and under will be admitted free.
