PETERSEN MEDIA- Placerville Speedway and Cody Lamar can’t seem to get along as of late. Having his Friday night cut short with the SCCT at the ¼ mile bullring, Lamar was able to bounce back and finish 16th with the series at Stockton Dirt Track.
“We had good speed again on Friday night at Placerville, but this time I just made some bad decisions in the ‘B” and it cut our night short,” Cody Lamar said.
Friday night at Placerville Speedway, Lamar got his night off to a great start as he timed in fastest in time trial group, which was also fastest overall amongst the 31 cars that were checked into the pit area.
Lining up in the second row of his heat race, issues would force Lamar into the infield on the race’s fourth lap and he would then be pointed to the night’s 15-lap ‘B’ Main for one final shot to make the 40-lap feature event.
Starting up front in the semi, Lamar ran in a transfer spot for most of the race until a late race incident saw him bring his machine to a stop and force him to the back of the back. Finishing 12th, Lamar’s night was over as he set his sights on Stockton Dirt Track.
Checking in at the Stockton Dirt Track on Saturday night, the Sacramento, CA driver would again time in well as he was fourth quickest in his group. Finishing sixth in his heat race though, he would again be forced into the ‘B’ Main.
Having better luck in the semi on this night, Lamar would finish in the fourth spot which was good enough to move him into the 35-lap feature event where he took the green flag from the 20th starting position.
On the slick Stockton Dirt Track surface, Lamar was mired in thick traffic when the race came to life. Able to pick up a few spots during the first half of the race, Lamar would run in the 16th position as rubber began to go down.
As the rubber continued to go down, most of the field would begin riding around in single file formation as passing would be ultra tough to do in the final laps. When the checkered flew on the weekend, Lamar finished in the 16th spot.
“We had pretty good speed again on Saturday, but unfortunately we had to run the ‘B’ and it put us in the back of the ‘A’,” Lamar added. “We gained some spots, but with the rubber it was pretty tough to go anywhere.”
