PETERSEN MEDIA- Turning laps at Petaluma Speedway just one week ago, Cody Lamar and his team returned to the bay area facility this past Saturday night as they took on the Sprint Car Challenge Tour for another night filled with stiff competition.

“We timed in well and transferred through our heat on a pretty tough track,” Cody Lamar said. “In the feature we kept biking, and I finally decided to pull back to the pit area before something stupid happened running towards the back.”

A total of 49 winged sprint cars were in attendance on Saturday night, and Lamar got off to a nice start as he timed the A1 Septic/Joe Hunt Magnetos/NAAKE Suspension backed entry in third fastest in his qualifying group.

Lining up on the front row of his heat race, Lamar would be involved in one of the better heat race battles of the night as he raced with Shane Golobic, Geoff Ensign, and Dominic Scelzi in a tight pack. Finishing in the fourth spot, Lamar would punch his ticket into the 40-lap feature event.

As the track continued to get heavier as the night went on, Lamar would find himself mired deep in the field as he would take the green flag from the 15th starting position.

On the hooked up and rough Petaluma Speedway, Lamar would have his hands full when the race came to life. Sitting aboard a car that was on the tight side, Lamar would do what he could to keep all four wheels on the surface as he wrestled his machine around the track.

Biking numerous times in the first half of the race, Lamar would finally make the decision to take his car back to the pits and race another day.

“We were really tight in the feature, and we weren’t going anywhere so I made the tough call to pull it in,” Lamar said. “I hate doing that, but I think it was a smart decision and we can live to race another day.”

Cody and his team would like to thank A1 Septic, Joe Hunt Magnetos, and NAAKE Suspension for their continued support.

2017 BY THE NUMBERS: Starts-5, Wins-0, Top 5’s- 0, Top 10’s-1

ON TAP: Lamar is will be in action on Saturday night as they return to Petaluma Speedway.
