PETERSEN MEDIA- Waiting on some last minute parts and pieces to come in, Cody Lamar and his Lamar Racing team were able to sneak up to Chico, CA on Saturday night to take part in the Silver Cup finale where Lamar would capture a Top-10 by way of his seventh place finish.
“It was great to finally get the car finished up, and get up to Chico on Saturday night,” Cody Lamar said. “I was really happy with how things went, and am pleased to come home with a Top-10.”
Cutting his first laps of the year on Saturday, the Sacramento, CA driver opened the season up by timing his A1 Septic/Joe Hunt Magnetos backed machine in eighth quickest in qualifying time trials.
Lining up in the second row of his heat race, Lamar would just narrowly miss out on a spot in the top-eight redraw which resulted in him taking the green flag from the ninth starting position on what was a racy Silver Dollar Speedway surface.
When the race came to life, Lamar spent the duration of the 30-lapper battling for position inside the Top-10. Falling as far back as ninth at times during the race, the Sacramento, CA driver continued to run hard as he mixed it up with some of regions top drivers.
Fighting hard on the ¼ mile bullring, Lamar would work his way back to seventh when the checkered flag flew on what was a wild ending to the race.
“It is a great start to the year, and I look forward to getting back up to Chico, CA a few more times this season,” Lamar added. “I want to thank everyone that helped us get the car finished up, and helped up make it up to the track.”
