PETERSEN MEDIA- Taking part in a night of racing in Placerville, CA, Cody Lamar would overcome a spin early in the race battling for the lead and fight back to finish fourth when the dust settled on a wild feature event.
“Our racecar was really good all night long, I just made a really costly mistake and cost us an even better finish that we came away with,” Cody Lamar said.
Timing the A1 Septic/Amsoil/Walker Performance backed No. 9l machine in sixth quickest in qualifying time trials, the Sacramento, CA driver would race his way to a fifth place finish in his heat race and make himself redraw eligible.
Lady Luck would play nice with Lamar as the one pill put him on the front row of the 25-lap feature event on what would be an immaculate surface following a quick re-work prior to the feature event.
When the race came to life, Lamar would find himself in a wheel-to-wheel slugfest with youngster, Tanner Carrick. Officially leading the first lap, Lamar would continue to battle with Carrick and would keep him at bay before fending off an early bid for the lead from third running Tony Gualda.
A three-headed battle for the top lead would bring fans to the edge of their seat as Lamar continued to fight with the two youngsters before he would make a mistake on the cushion on the eighth lap and bring his machine to a stop.
Forced to the back of the pack, Lamar would continue to show off a strong racecar as he would quickly work his way back up into the Top-10.
Getting up into sixth in the race’s closing laps, a melee in front of him on the white flag lap would open the door for him to grab a couple of positions as he would get into fourth down the back stretch where he would go on to finish.
“I’m pretty mad at myself for goofing up like that, but fortunately my guys gave me a really good car and we were able to fight back and salvage our night with a nice Top-Five finish,” Lamar added.”
Cody and his team would like to thank A1 Septic, Amsoil, Walker Performance Filtration, and Joe Hunt Magnetos for their continued support.

ON TAP: Cody Lamar will get right back to it as he will make the trip to Silver Dollar Speedway on Friday night.
