PETERSEN MEDIA- Heading into the Marysville Raceway season finale with a slim five-point lead, Cody Lamar took car of business and claimed his first ever track championship.

“It feels great to finally get a championship,” Cody Lamar said “I owe it all to my family for making it possible for me to race.”

With a ton still on the line during the final point race of the season, Lamar did what he has done a majority of the time at the Marysville Raceway and that was set quick time during qualifications.

Finishing fourth in his heat race, Lamar would draw the three pill and line up in the second row for the 25-lap season finale feature event. With Jeremy Burt up front, it was extremely important for Lamar to keep pace and stay out of trouble.

Deciding to not push the issue at times, Lamar would work into the second spot and take what was given to him. Keeping pace with the race leader, Lamar saw the big picture and opted to run second and claim the track championship.

After claiming the title, Lamar and company wasted no time getting back to action as they traveled to the Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico, CA to take on the Civil War Series on Wednesday night.

Timing in sixth fastest in his qualifying group, Lamar would struggle a bit on the slick Silver Dollar Speedway surface and he would be forced into the B Main, where he would then transfer into the feature event.

With rubber on the speedway for the feature, Lamar’s starting position made things tough on him. Pleased with his speed, Lamar would ultimately get caught up in a tangle and his night would come to a close.

“Wednesday night we just went the wrong way in our heat race, and it put us in the back of the pack for the feature,” Lamar said. “We had some okay speed in the A, but with the rubber down, we really couldn’t go anywhere.”

Cody and his team would like to thank A1 Septic, Joe Hunt Magnetos, and NAAKE Suspension for their continued support.

2016 BY THE NUMBERS: Starts-20, Wins-3, Top 5’s- 9, Top 10’s-10

ON TAP: Cody is hopeful to be back in action at the Marysville Raceway on Saturday night when the Civil War Series comes to town.
