PETERSEN MEDIA- Rolling out a new car at Placerville Speedway a couple of weeks ago, Cody Lamar continues to gain ground and is pleased with the progress his team made over the weekend in Stockton, CA.

“Overall, I think it was a good weekend for us and figuring this car out,” Cody Lamar said. “We seem to be picking up speed, and that is great for this point in the year.”

Challenging the Sprint Car Challenge Tour in a pair of events over the weekend in Stockton, CA, Lamar opened the weekend up on Friday night by timing the A1 Septic/Amsoil/Walker Performance backed No. 9L car in seventh fastest in his time trial group.

Unable to procure one of the five transfer positions up for grabs, the Sacramento, CA driver would move into the ‘B’ Main where he would roll off the starting grid from the sixth starting position. Missing it a little in the ‘B’, Lamar would end his night, as he would be scored in the 11th position as he turned his attention to Saturday’s Asparagus Cup finale.

Saturday night would get off to a bit of a rocky start as Lamar ended up timing in eighth fastest amidst his qualifying group. Getting his elbows up in the heat race, Lamar would make some big time moves as he sailed to the fourth position and made his way into the $800-to-start, $15K-to-win 30-lap Asparagus Cup feature event.

On the big, slick, Stockton Dirt Track, Lamar would take the green flag from the 16th starting position. Though in the feature, Lamar would have some issues early as he would find himself soaked in power steering fluid by the race’s sixth lap and would call it an early night.

“It was a little disappointing to have our night end how it did Saturday, but the car felt really good,” Cody Lamar said. “Looking forward to getting right back to it and trying again on Saturday in Placerville, CA.”

Cody and his team would like to thank A1 Septic, Amsoil, Walker Performance Filtration, and Joe Hunt Magnetos for their continued support.

2019 BY THE NUMBERS: Starts-3, Wins-0, Top 5’s- 0, Top 10’s-0

ON TAP: Lamar is slated to return to Placerville Speedway on Saturday night.
