PETERSEN MEDIA- Being involved in a hard wreck a couple weeks back at Placerville Speedway, Cody Lamar returned to action on Saturday night during the Mark Forni Classic and fought some issues that really hampered his night.
“After our wreck we had to go through everything a couple of times and we still fought some issues early that really set us back,” Cody Lamar said.
Normally one of the top qualifiers around, Lamar would fight some brake issues during time trials on Saturday night that ultimately relegated him to 22nd quickest and put the A1 Septic/Amsoil/Walker Performance entry deep in his heat race.
Running fifth in his heat race and chasing after Colby Copeland for the final transfer position into the 25-lap feature event, Lamar would find himself on the outside looking in and in the Last Chance Showdown for one final shot at the feature event.
Chasing after a transfer position in the semi, Lamar would battle with the likes of Shane Hopkins and Mason Moore and Colby Wiesz. Working into sixth, Lamar inched closer to a transfer into the feature event but on this night couldn’t quite get into fourth and his night came to an end.
“We just couldn’t did out of the qualifying hole and it hampered us all night long,” Lamar added. “It was great to get back to the track, but we are working hard on getting a new car done and we are hoping we can race on Saturday.’
Cody and his team would like to thank A1 Septic, Amsoil, Walker Performance Filtration, and Joe Hunt Magnetos for their continued support.
2018 BY THE NUMBERS: Starts-17, Wins-0, Top 5’s- 4, Top 10’s-7
ON TAP: Cody Lamar is hoping to be in action on Saturday night in Watsonville, CA.
