PETERSEN MEDIA- Traveling to Placerville Speedway on Saturday night to take part in a weekly point show, Cody Lamar would look to be well on his way to a Top-10 finish however a late tangle would knock him completely out of the race.
“It was pretty technical on Saturday night, but we looked to be well on our way to a Top-10 finish until a late tangle ultimately ended our night,” Cody Lamar said.
Timing the A1 Septic/Joe Hunt Magnetos/NAAKE Suspension No. 9L entry in second quickest in qualifying, the Sacramento, CA driver would start and finish fourth in his second heat race; placing him solidly inside the night’s top-eight redraw.
As luck would have it, Lamar would find himself with the seven pill, which lined him up in the fourth row for the 25-lap feature event.
Taking the green flag from the fourth row on a track that had built up a tricky cushion, Lamar was able to maintain his position in the Top-10 as the race would be filled with a myriad of stoppages.
Continuing to run well, Lamar did a great job of avoiding trouble as he spent much of the night running in sixth, and looking for a way into the Top-five.
On the 22nd lap, Lamar’s night would take a turn for the worse, as a spinning car collected the Sacramento, CA pilot and his night would ultimately come to an end just three laps prior to the checkered flag flying.
“The track got tricky, and really caused some problems for a few other drivers,” Lamar said. “Late in the race it got the best of someone right in front of us, and it ended up collecting us and ending our night.”
