PETERSEN MEDIA- Returning to the season of his family owned No. 9L machine on Saturday night, Cody Lamar headed to Placerville Speedway where he would pick up his fourth Top-10 finish of the season by way of his ninth place finish at the ¼ mile.

“Our night started out great, but some issues in our heat race kind of put us in a hole for the feature, and I couldn’t really dig us out to much,” Cody Lamar said. “It was good to get back to Placerville Speedway though and get some laps before this weekend’s SCCT event.”

Timing the A1 Septic/Amsoil/Walker Performance backed No. 9L entry in second fastest in qualifying time trials, the Sacramento, CA product gridded the field from row two in heat race number two.

A near disaster at the start of the heat saw contact send Lamar off the racing surface, fortunately he would keep the rubber side down and be able to tag the back of the pack.

Picking up a couple of spots to finish sixth, Lamar would miss out on the redraw as he would take the green flag from the 11th starting position on what was a racy surface. From the back of the back, Lamar would do a nice job of quickly racing his way into the Top-10.

Settling into ninth, the former Marysville Raceway champion, would try to keep up his forward progress, but passing would become increasingly difficult with two very fast lines in play on this night.

Able to keep his machine well inside the Top-10 for all 25-laps, Lamar would bring his night to an end with a ninth place finish.

“I think we were better than where we finished, but we just had some bad luck in the heat and that kept us out of the redraw,’ Lamar said. “I am fortunate we didn’t tear anything up in our incident either, because it had the makings to be bad. I have to thank everyone that helps us out on this car, and all my guys for their hard work. I am looking forward to a couple of shows this weekend.”

Cody and his team would like to thank A1 Septic, Amsoil, Walker Performance Filtration, and Joe Hunt Magnetos for their continued support.
