Cody Lamar Too Tight In Watsonville, CA

PETERSEN MEDIA- Following the Civil War Series presented by Flowmaster to Watsonville, CA on Friday night, Cody Lamar would have a good night going up until the feature event, when he would choose to take his car back to the pit area as he fought tight conditions.
“We had pretty good speed all night long, but we were just too tight in the feature event, and I opted to call it a night early,” Cody Lamar said.
With 37 cars assembled in the pit area at the Ocean Speedway for the sixth annual Howard Kaeding Classic, Lamar would lay down a great lap in qualifying time trials that put him second overall on the big board.
Lining up in the second row of his heat race aboard the Lamar A1 Septic/Joe Hunt Magnetos/NAAKE Suspension backed No. 9L entry, Lamar would finish in the fourth spot and move into the night’s Dash due to his qualifying efforts.
Lining up third in the sixth lap shootout, the Rio Linda, CA driver would finish in the fourth spot, which would place him in the second row for the 30-lap Howard Kaeding Classic feature event.
Taking his hot lap before the feature event, Lamar could tell that his machine was just too tight for his liking, but we tried to make it work. Getting up over the cushion on the second lap of the race, Lamar would restart from the tail end of the field.
Trying to make his car work on the tacky ¼ mile speedway, Lamar would come to a stop on the 13th lap, and opt to take his car back to the pit area.
“I tried, and tried to get around, but I just could not make it work,” Lamar said. “Rather than do something that cost us a car, I decided to call it a night early and race again another day.”
Cody and his team would like to thank A1 Septic, Joe Hunt Magnetos, and NAAKE Suspension for their continued support.
2016 BY THE NUMBERS: Starts-14, Wins-3, Top 5’s- 6, Top 10’s-7
ON TAP: Cody and company will return to action on Saturday night at the Marysville Raceway.
