PETERSEN MEDIA- Anxiously waiting out Mother Nature, Cole Macedo’s 2018 season came to life Saturday night in Marysville, CA as he picked up a fourth place finish during the Civil War Series pres. by Flowmaster’s opening event.

“It felt really nice to finally get back in the car, and get to racing,” Cole Macedo said. “I was a little rusty at the start of the night, but my Dad really got the car good and I had some fun in the feature.”

With 22 cars checked into the pit area, Macedo kicked his night off by timing the Tachi Palace Hotel and Casino/Elite Landscape Construction/Tarlton and Son, Inc. backed No. 21x machine in ninth quickest.

Lining up on the front row of the third heat race, Macedo took advantage of the prime starting position and rocketed away from the field. Racing his way to the victory, Macedo would move into the Dash where a third place finish placed him in the second row to start the 30-lap feature event.

When the green flag was displayed to the field, Macedo settled into third as he chased after Tanner Thorson and Kalib Henry who ran in front of him. With yellow needed early in the race, and bringing a couple other stoppages with it, Macedo remained calm as he continued to stalk the lead duo while dealing with a pesky couple of veterans behind him in the likes of Justin Sanders and Andy Forsberg.

Macedo continued to keep pace with the leaders as traffic came into play in the closing laps. With the action heating up and getting chaotic, Macedo would see both Forsberg and Sanders get by him, but he would return the favor and get by Kalib Henry to claim a fourth place finish at the finish line.

“There were some pretty tough drivers that beat us, so a fourth place finish feel pretty good,” Macedo added. “All in all it was a great season opener, and I am excited to get two more races in this weekend. I can’t thank the Tarlton’s enough for the opportunity, and my dad and everyone at the shop for preparing an awesome racecar.”

The Tarlton Motorsports team would like to thank Elite Landscape Construction, Tarlton and Son, Inc., Executive Auto Sales, Tachi Palace Hotel and Casino, Pabco Gypsum, Bandy and Associates, All Star Performance, and BG Lubricants for their support through the 2018 season.

BY THE NUMBERS: Starts-1, Wins-0, Top 5’s-1, Top 10’s-1.

ON TAP: Cole and Tarlton Motorsports will be at Ocean Speedway on Friday night and at Placerville Speedway on Saturday.
