PETERSEN MEDIA- Off and running in the Midwest with Tarlton Motorsports, Cole Macedo capped off a busy weekend with the All Star Circuit of Champions with his best finish of the trip yet as he was fourth at Red Hill Raceway.
“The first couple of nights we were a little off when the track got super slick, but Drew and the guys did a lot of work to get us better,” Cole Macedo said. “Sunday night I felt great, and I think we were just as good as the leaders, so that is a big confidence boost for us as we continue to take part in some big races.”
Friday night the busy weekend kicked off in West Burlington, IA as Macedo and Tarlton Motorsports checked in at 34 Raceway to battle with the All Star Circuit of Champions.
Earning quick time honors in his qualifying group aboard the Tarlton and Son Inc./Complete Parts and Equipment Solutions/Executive Auto Sales backed No. 21, Macedo lined up in the second row of his heat race.
Settling into fourth when the race came to life, Macedo went on to finish fourth and locked himself in the Dash. Finishing fifth in the six-lap shootout, Macedo rolled off of the starting grid from the inside of the third row in the 30-lap finale.
On a slick 34-Raceway surface, Macedo struggled a tough as he slipped back through the field, but still held strong inside the Top-10. Racing hard with the likes of Kerry Madsen and Parker Price-Miller, Macedo capped his Friday night off with a ninth place finish.
Saturday night the scene shifted to Illinois, as Macedo and company followed to All Stars to Spoon River Speedway for the Rumble on the River event.
Timing in sixth fastest in his group, Macedo rebounded in his heat race as he advanced from sixth to a fourth place finish and locked himself into the 35-lap feature event.
Taking the green flag from the 15th starting position, Macedo went to work on the slick bullring. Unable to quite find a line to make a run forward, the Lemoore, CA driver ran a patient race as he capped the night off with a 17th place finish.
Sunday night kept Macedo in Illinois with the ASCoC as they made their way to Red Hill Raceway.
Timing in 12th fastest overall, Macedo lined up in the second row of his heat race. Getting off to a solid start, Macedo worked his way into second, where he finished, and locked into the 30-lap feature event.
Taking the green flag from the ninth starting position, the Tarlton Motorsports team’s hard work paid off, as Macedo showcased a very strong car underneath him.
On the same slick conditions that they admittedly struggled on both Friday and Saturday, Sunday night was a different story.
Getting his elbows up, Macedo sliced and diced his way through the Top-10. Getting into fifth late, Macedo ultimately got himself into fourth and capped the long weekend out with his best finish of the trip yet.
“Thanks to Drew, Cobe, and Nate for working hard and getting us where we needed to be,” Macedo said. “It’s great to have this Tarlton Motorsports car out in the Midwest and I’m extremely thankful for everyone that made this possible.”
Tarlton Motorsports would like to thank Tarlton and Son Inc., Complete Parts & Equipment Solutions, Executive Auto Sales, Kelly Moore Paints, Empire Machinery, Durst, Reston Enterprises, Bandy and Associates, FK Shocks, FK Rod Ends, System 1 Ignition, Vortex Wings, and BG Lubricants for their support.
