PETERSEN MEDIA- Taking the reigns to the Tarlton Motorsports No. 21x for a couple of shows over the weekend, Cole Macedo would finish third on Friday night at Ocean Speedway and follow that up with a seventh place run on Saturday at Keller Auto Speedway.
“Friday night was pretty good, we were fast all night and we were right where we needed to be,” Cole Macedo said. “Saturday I put us behind the eight ball early in the night, and with the track so dominant around the top, it was tough to make up ground in the ‘A’.”
Making an appearance at Ocean Speedway on Friday night, Macedo would kick things off by timing the Tarlton and Son, Inc./Executive Auto Sales/Pabco Gypsum machine in eighth quickest in time trials.
Racing his way to a convincing win in heat race competition, Macedo would run third in the Dash which put him third on the starting grid for the 30-lap feature event.
Taking the green flag on the racy ¼ mile, Macedo would quickly get into second and begin his pursuit of early leader, Bud Kaeding. Able to poke his nose under Kaeding a few times, Macedo would be unable to make his move around the leader.
Running second on a restart, a little contact with older brother, Carson, would get Macedo out of shape enough to let Justin Sanders sneak by and take over the runner up position.
Getting gathered back up, Macedo would only lose the one position as he finished Friday night off in third.
Traveling to Keller Auto Speedway on Saturday night for Kings of Thunder action, Macedo would admittedly make a mistake in time trials and it would cost him dearly as he wound up 16th on the speed charts.
Lining up sixth in his heat race, the Lemoore, CA driver would work his way around the Keller Auto Speedway surface as he came home with a second place finish.
Finding himself in the sixth row for the feature event, Macedo would get what he could as the dominant line in the ‘A’ would prove to be the high side, which made passing tough at times.
Still, keeping his nose to the grindstone, Macedo would cap his night with a Top-10 by way of his seventh place finish.
“It was a great weekend racing with Carson, and having some fun at two racy tracks,” Cole Macedo said. “Thanks to the Tarlton’s for letting us all race together over the weekend, and thanks the Paul, my Dad, and everyone who works hard to make these cars so fast.”
The Tarlton Motorsports team would like to thank Tarlton and Son, Inc., Executive Auto Sales, Pabco Gypsum, Bandy and Associates, All Star Performance, and BG Lubricants for their support through the 2019 season.
BY THE NUMBERS: Starts-5, Wins-0, Top 5’s-3, Top 10’s-4.
ON TAP: Cole and Tarlton Motorsports will travel to Ocean Speedway in Watsonville, CA on Friday night.
