Cole Macedo Grabs Win at Ocean Speedway
PETERSEN MEDIA- Working so hard to win at Ocean Speedway over the course of his career, Cole Macedo broke through on Friday night and scored that elusive first Ocean Speedway victory as he had to hold of Bud Kaeding to do so.
“It feels great to finally get a win at Ocean Speedway, and to hold off someone like Bud Kaeding who is so good there makes it that much more special,” Macedo said. “Big thanks to my guys for giving me such a great car. We have been fast there the last few weeks, so this is pretty cool.”
Picking up quick time honors aboard the Tarlton and Son, Inc./Executive Auto Sales/Pabco Gypsum/Bandy and Associates backed No. 21x machine, Macedo’s fifth place finish would lock him into the Dash.
Finishing second in the Dash, Macedo would actually find himself on the preferred lane to start the race as the Top was really fast on this night. Pounding the cushion, Macedo would set a great pace though the track would soon get tricky in turns three and four.
Admittedly thinking back to a few races to go where he didn’t move up soon enough, Macedo wouldn’t let that happen again as he pushed the envelope higher on the tricky side of the track and continued to keep Bud Kaeding at bay.
With a very strong Tarlton Motorsports machine underneath him, Macedo would hold the point and pick up his first win of the season, and his first ever win at the Santa Cruz County Fairground facility.
“It was a huge confidence booster for sure,” Macedo added. “I think it helped me a ton going into Saturday night’s race where I ran second, and it will help us move forward week by week. I really have to thank the Tarlton family for allowing me to drive one of best cars around week in and week out.”
