PETERSEN MEDIA- Despite Friday night getting off to a slow start, Cole Macedo and the Tarlton Motorsports team showed their resolve as the Lemoore, CA driver charged from 18thto garner a sixth place finish.
“We just did not get timed in very well, and it put us in a bit of a hole all night long,” Cole Macedo said. “My guys stuck with me, put a great car under me, and we raced really well.”
Timing the Tarlton and Son, Inc./Executive Auto Sales/Pabco Gypsum backed No. 21 entry in 18thquickest in qualifying time trials, Macedo would pick up a sixth place finish in his heat race.
Moving into the feature event, the youngster would have his work cut out for himself as he took the green flag from the 18thstarting position. Going to work on the ¼ mile bullring from the back of the pack, Macedo would be very patient as he navigated through traffic after a very strong start to the race.
Racing in heavy traffic, Macedo would showcase a very strong car as he fought his way up into the Top-10. Getting into 10thjust before the race’s halfway point, Macedo would continue to work as he moved into eighth with 12-laps left in the feature event.
Getting into seventh with two-to-go, Macedo would take advantage of a late restart and work his way into sixth where he would go on to finish.
“We had an awesome car in the feature, and it is a testament to Paul Baines, my dad, and everyone that works on this thing,” Macedo added. “To come through the field like that was a blast, and I can’t wait to get back in this thing.”
