PETERSEN MEDIA- Continuing to battle with the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series during their three-week trip to California, Cole Macedo and Tarlton Motorsports had a great weekend in Central California as Macedo ran sixth in Bakersfield, CA before tallying a fifth place finish in Merced, CA on Saturday.
“It was a great weekend for our team, and it gives us a lot of confidence as we race at home this weekend in Tulare, CA,” Cole Macedo said. “Big thanks to Drew, Coby, and Nate for their hard work and giving me the best car night in and night out.”
Traveling to Bakersfield, CA to open the weekend up on Friday night, a wet surface early in the night saw Macedo time the Tarlton and Son Inc./Complete Parts and Equipment Solutions/Executive Auto Sales backed No. 21 in 12th fastest in time trials.
Lining up in the second row of his heat race, Macedo jumped into third when the race came to life and settled in. Finishing third, the Lemoore, CA native locked into the feature event where he found himself in the ninth starting position for the 35-lap finale.
With the track widening out and getting slicker as the night went on, it provided a great surface for the feature event. Following a chaotic start to the race, Macedo was into seventh for the second attempted start.
Abel to go off with no issues, Macedo jumped into sixth where he spent the rest of the race. Though it shows he ran in sixth for 34 laps, Macedo battled hard with some of the best in the game as he raced with the likes of David Gravel and Donny Schatz.
Hanging on to the sixth-place finish, Macedo and company then followed the series to Merced, CA as they hit the banked bullring on Saturday night.
Timing in eight quickest in time trials on Saturday, Macedo found himself on the front row of his heat race needing to finish inside the Top-Two to earn a berth into the Dash.
Settling into second as the race came to life, Macedo held the spot and earned the Dash berth where a sixth place finish placed him in the third row of the feature event.
The slick Merced Speedway did in fact have rubber go down on the speedway as the laps clicked off. Settling into fifth as rubber went down, Macedo made sure to hold his spot and hit his marks over the course of the 25-lap affair.
Finishing fifth, Macedo capped a strong weekend with a hard fought Top-Five with ‘The Greatest Show on Dirt’.
Tarlton Motorsports would like to thank Tarlton and Son Inc., Complete Parts & Equipment Solutions, Executive Auto Sales, Durst, Tarlton Estate and Asset Management, Bandy and Associates, FK Shocks, FK Rod Ends, Willwood Brakes, Vortex Wings, and High Performance Lubricants for their support.
