PETERSEN MEDIA- Making their long-awaited season debut at Placerville Speedway on Saturday night during the track’s first event of the season, Andy Forsberg and F&F Racing would have their night cut short after early contact in the feature event.
“We were kind of so-so in our heat race and time trials as he got used to a new car and new engine package at Placerville, but we got really good in the Dash and the feature,” Forsberg said. “I made a mistake and got sideways in one and two, and as I was getting it straightened out, contact ensued and broke a left rear wheel, and ultimately ended our night.”
With 46 cars checked in for the tracks’ season opener, officials opted to use the SCCT format, and have cars qualify in individual groups. Timing the C&H Motor Parts/Bushey Financial Services/Huggins Cams backed No. x1 machine in third fastest in his group, Forsberg would race to the win and punch his ticket for the Dash.
Pullin the six pill in the redraw, Forsberg would put on a show for the Pay-Per-View fans, as he charged up into second, and put himself on the front row for the feature event.
Alongside Tony Gualda, Forsberg would run second for the first three laps, until using the high side to sail into the lead on the fourth circuit.
Out front, Forsberg would see second running Justyn Cox poke his nose underneath him as he continued to pound the cushion, and as he searched down low on the eighth lap, he would miss the line and get his machine sideways.
As he was going to lose a few positions, Forsberg kept his machine under power and as he was getting straight contact ensued creating damage to his left rear and bringing his night to an end.
“Big shout out to my guys,” Forsberg said. “We got this car better and better each time out, and we found a ton of speed. It is unfortunate how our night ended but looking forward to getting back to Placerville soon.”
