Copeland and Bandit Racing Have Strong Showing at Stockton Dirt Track

PETERSEN MEDIA: After having success together at the end of the 2015 season, Colby Copeland climbed back aboard the Bandit Racing entry over the weekend in Stockton, CA and showed that 2015 was no fluke as he raced his way to third and fourth place finishes.
“I thought we had a nice weekend of racing,” Crew Chief Billy Muller. “It is always fun to race with Colby, and to be in contention both nights is always a good thing.”
Copeland kicked the weekend off by timing the King Racing Products/BR Motorsports/MVT No. 18w machine in third fastest during qualifying time trials before racing his way to a second place finish in his heat race.
By way of his qualifying efforts, the Roseville, CA driver would earn a spot in the night’s Dash which he would go on to win and earn the right to start on the pole for the 30-lap feature event.
When Ed Entz’s green flag waived, Copeland was hard on the throttle and jumped out to an early lead. Flexing his muscle, Copeland would distance himself from the field and get into thick lapped traffic early on in the race.
With Andy Forsberg and Cory Eliason chasing Copeland down in traffic, the caution flag would fly just after the race’s halfway point and give Copeland clear track. The restart would not go Copeland’s way as Forsberg would get the advantage and begin to distance himself from the field.
Struggling to keep pace, Copeland would have his hands full with Justyn Cox in the closing laps as the leaders were again in traffic. Working in thick traffic, Copeland would slip back to the third spot, where he would go on to finish.
Looking for another strong night on Saturday, Copeland again timed in well as he timed the DMI/EKR Heating and Cooling/EMI backed entry in third quickest for the second consecutive night.
Finishing fourth in his heat race, Copeland went on to finish fifth in the Dash, which put him in the third row for the 30-lap feature event.
Another slick and racy surface saw Copeland battle with Steven Tiner and Blake Robertson as they battled inside the Top-Five. A late restart would see Copeland and Andy Gregg fight over the final spot on the podium, and the end result would be Copeland finishing fourth.
“It was a great field of 360’s, so to come out our first two nights together and finish how we did was a really good start,” Muller added. “Unfortunately logistics make it tough for us to race with Colby, but we are doing what we can to add to our schedule.”
Bandit Racing would like to thank King Racing Products, BR Motorsports, MVT, Diversified Machine, EKR Heating and Cooling, EMI, Wings Unlimited, Borello Racing Engines, and Schure Built Suspension for their support in 2016.
ON TAP: Bandit Racing will be back in action with Lorne Wofford behind the wheel on Aprils 1st and 2nd at the Southern New Mexico Speedway in Las Cruces, NM.
