PETERSEN MEDIA- Taking the wheel aboard the Econo Lube-n-Tune & Brakes No. x1jR during the 24th Annual Trophy Cup, Colby Copeland would come up just short of making the Saturday night feature event, and it has him hungry for the Tribute to GP in Stockton, CA on November 4th.

“We just couldn’t seem to get going at Trophy Cup which was kind of a bummer,” Copeland said. “We came close to putting it in the Saturday night show, but it just has us working a little harder to run well at the SCCT finale.”

Thursday night saw Copeland get off to a decent start as he timed in 24th quickest in qualifying time trials and just made the heat race inversion. With heat race winners getting an automatic transfer into the feature event, Copeland would handle business from the front row and punch his ticket into the 30-lap ‘A’ Main event.

Lining up 23rd on the starting grid, the Roseville, CA driver would do a very nice job working his way forward on a very difficult racing surface. Extremely rough in parts, Copeland would maneuver through the holes well as he guided the F&F Racing entry to a 16th place finish.

Slated to start 19th in the first B Main on Friday night, Copeland’s Econo Lube-n-Tune & Brakes entry would develop a fuel leak and it was end up bringing to team’s night to an end.

Sitting 29th in Trophy Cup points heading into Saturday night’s finale, Copeland would pick up a sixth place finish in his heat race which moved him into the ‘B’ Main where he would line up in the 12th starting position.

ON a surface that was extremely fast and narrow, a big run from the back looked to be a tall order to move into the 50-lap feature event. Doing all he could from the sixth row, Copeland would fight for everything he could which would result in him ending his weekend with a seventh place finish in the semi.

“I have to thank everyone on the team for all their hard work,” Copeland said. “It is a tough three nights of racing, and we fought from Thursday through the end of Saturday. Looking forward to getting to Stockton and seeing what we can do.”

Copeland and F&F Racing would like to thank Econo Lube-n-Tune & Brakes, and CRV Carbon Solutions for their support in 2017.
