PETERSEN MEDIA- With two big weekends of action coming up to close out the month of July, Tarlton Motorsports is pleased to announce that 15-year-old Corey Day will take over driving duties for this weekend’s Howard Kaeding Classic, as well as during next weekend’s King of the West Double Header in Tulare, CA and Santa Maria, CA.
“First off, our entire organization wants to wish Austin McCarl the very best moving forward,” Tarlton Motorsports said. “As we move forward, we are excited to have a young talent like Corey Day pilot our car the next couple of weeks and look forward working with him.”
2021 has seen 15-year-old Corey Day burst onto the Open Wheel scene after a storied career in the Micro Sprint ranks. Making some noise during January’s Wild West Shootout in Arizona, Day has quickly turned into fan favorite in the Golden State with his exciting driving style.
Aside from Winged Sprint Car success this season, Day also took part in USAC Indiana Midget Week, and was able to score a National Midget win and become the series’ youngest ever winner in doing so.
“Getting the opportunity to run for Tarlton Motorsports is super cool and it isn’t something I ever thought would happen,” Corey Day said. “Growing up, my dad raced with Tommy for years and it has turned it a very close friendship between our families and to now race with them is going to be a little surreal. I have watched the Tarlton Motorsports car go around the track with so many legendary names aboard it, and I am really excited, and thankful, to add my name to the list.”
Day will run the next two weekends aboard the Tarlton and Son, Inc./EZ Haul/Executive Auto Sales backed No. 21 machine before the King of the West Series takes an extended break for the Knoxville Nationals.
